Preeti Monga, blind since childhood, (Founder & CEO of Silver Linings Trust and Silver Linings Services, has been working towards inclusive education and empowerment of blind, inclusion of disabled and prevention of blindness, directly/indirectly impacting millions since 1987!
Preeti is the first blind Aerobics Instructor known, a celebrated Motivation Speaker and counselor!
Preeti is the recipient of numerus prestigious awards, including the National Award presented to her by the President of India for her ground breaking work towards employment and self - employment of people with disabilities, in 2013, and the Exceptional Achievement in Entrepreneurship Award by the Delhi Government, in 2015! The ‘Red and White Bravery’ Award, the ‘Rajeev Gandhi Manna Seva’ Award and the Ashoka Fellowship are among some of her other significant achievements!
Preeti is a nominated member of the Delhi State Advisory Board on Disability, and part of the Governing Counsel of the Skill Counsel of Persons With Disabilities!
Preeti has authored two autobiographies, namely, The Other Senses published by Roli Books in 2012, and Flight without Sight published by Hay House in 2018!
Her work encompasses, educating, training and empowering blind girls, boys and women, promoting inclusion and Employment of Disabled, Diversity, POSH and motivation Trainings, prevention of blindness and Trauma Counseling!
She has been widely covered by both print and electronic media! Preeti was thrown out of Loreto Convent School Delhi at 13; and her formal qualification is only High School from NOS!
Despite unsurmountable challenges, she has worked in the capacity of business development Manager, Marketing Manager, Public Relations Head, Head Patient Relations, Trainer, Fund Raiser and Counselor.
She firmly believes that if every blind child is provided with a reasonably good quality education, relevant training, and adequate exposure in an inclusive environment; they too can become an independent and productive citizen!
