Born in Jalandhar Punjab, Palak embarked on her badminton journey at the Gaurav Khanna Excellia Badminton Academy in the year 2016 at just 14 years old. Under the mentorship of Gaurav Khanna in Lucknow, she honed her skills and swiftly made her mark in the sport. Born with an underdeveloped left arm, Palak faced societal skepticism and was often relegated to the sidelines in sports activities. Despite these challenges, her family's unwavering support and her inner strength propelled her forward. In the initial years of her career, Palak competed in the SU5 category (Standing/upper limb impairment). However, Palak had to undergo a surgery due to a bone tumor in her left ankle. The surgery made her left foot get reduced to half the size of her right foot. She then made a switch from SU5 to SL4 (Standing/lower limb impairment/minor.
